Dressing for your body shape is common, while focusing on your styling for face shape is often overlooked. Choosing a neckline to complement face shape ensures you frame your face and can either accentuate its features or mask them; here are our tips for styling according to face shape.
The first thing to do if you want help choosing a neckline and styling for face shape is to determine which of the seven typical face shapes you are.
What is my face shape?
The most common types of face shape are round, oval, triangle, square, diamond, rectangle and heart. The best way to determine your face shape is by measuring face length, forehead width, cheekbone width, and jawline width.
Round face shapes, for example, will have equal width and length measurements, while oval will be longer than wide and have a smaller forehead width than cheekbones.
Triangle will be noticeable by a pointed chin, with forehead and cheekbones wider than jawline; they are often characterised by narrower eye line and dramatic cheek bones.
Square face shapes will have equal measures like that of a round face but with more prominent forehead and jawline and more angular.
Diamond face shapes are a more angular version of an oval, look out for high cheekbones and a narrow, pointed chin.
Rectangle faces will be longer than they are wide and are more common as we age, and cheek volume moves to the lower part of the face.
A heart shape face will also have a narrow chin with wider forehead and cheek bones and a widow’s peak hairline.

The neckline to complement face shape
Round face shapes
To style for round faces you should look out for necklines that will elongate the face, and for that a v-neck is the prefect choice. Have a look at our new v-neck 100% cashmere styles in a range of colours.
Oval face shapes
If you have a round but longer face shape, you should choose necklines for oval faces, which includes crew necks as well as roll necks. Have a look at our new range of 100% cashmere roll necks.
Square face shapes
Definitely avoid a square neckline for styling a square face, which will only accentuate the angularity of your face; instead complement your face shape with a deep v-neck or scoop neck style. We also have some short sleeve v-necks in pima cotton. For the men have a look at these 100% cashmere v-necks.
Rectangle face shapes
Most suitable for rectangle face shapes are round necklines like a crew neck or even a boat neck. V-necks will only make your face look longer. For men’s styling, a square jaw and long face is perfect for our higher zip neck styles.
Triangle and diamond face shapes
If you want to accentuate the angles then go for a v-neck, but to camouflage them stick to crew necks. We also have cotton cashmere crew necks.
Heart face shapes
Again, softening the angular look is best done with rounded necklines, try our crew neck styles. But, if you want to accentuate the angles then go for a v-neck.
